Savile Row Celebrates 15 Years of Wool Excellence with Exclusive Launches and Sustainable Showcases

London's iconic Savile Row, renowned globally for its bespoke luxury tailoring, is once again hosting a prestigious "Savile Row Wool Month" as part of the wider Campaign for Wool initiatives. This free-to-the-public exhibition, dedicated to honouring "wool excellence," will run for three weeks until Thursday, October 31st. The event serves as a magnificent showcase of the natural fibre's enduring quality, versatility, and sustainable appeal, drawing visitors into the heart of British craftsmanship.

This year's celebration holds particular significance as it marks the 15th anniversary of the Campaign for Wool and its cherished, long-standing partnership with Savile Row. To commemorate this milestone, the esteemed tailors of "The Row" are pulling out all the stops, unveiling a series of special wool-themed window displays, launching exclusive new cloths, limited edition collections, and hosting unique pop-up retail events designed to captivate and educate the public about the unparalleled benefits of wool.

A highlight of the Savile Row Wool Month is the array of exclusive new wool fabric launches and collections from the street's most distinguished houses. Henry Poole & Co is introducing its sophisticated new exclusive House Fabric, The Londsdale Check. Anderson & Sheppard will feature its popular House Special Tweed collection, which garnered significant attention upon its launch earlier this year. Gieves & Hawkes is presenting a limited-edition collection of coats and jackets, meticulously crafted from exquisite tweed sourced from Glenlyon Tweed Mill. Huntsman will showcase its AW2025 Tailoring collection, notably created with wool from British Mills selected for their low carbon footprint, underscoring a commitment to environmental responsibility. Finally, JP Hackett is set to launch a limited edition SpringRam Cheviot wool cloth coat, utilizing premium fabric from Harrisons cloth.

Beyond the traditional tailoring houses, the event also embraces modern innovation. `clothsurgeon` will present a unique King Charles III-inspired bomber jacket, ingeniously crafted from wool bunting that was used during the historic 2023 Coronation celebrations. This piece exemplifies the creative potential of wool, demonstrating its adaptability beyond conventional attire and its connection to national heritage.

More than just a display of luxurious garments, this "celebratory wool showcase" deeply emphasizes the industry's steadfast commitment to sustainability. The meticulously curated window displays and special offerings are designed to highlight wool as one of nature’s most innovative, sustainable, and planet-friendly fibres. The campaign actively encourages the public to "Check It's Wool" – a powerful consumer message advocating for informed, responsible choices by opting for wool over synthetic alternatives. This aligns with a wider nationwide and international series of events by the Campaign for Wool, all promoting conscious consumption.

Peter Ackroyd, Chairman of the Campaign for Wool, reflected on the profound connection, stating: "Savile Row has been a central part of the campaign… since its inception in 2010, which transformed London’s historic tailoring street into a pasture where 50 sheep grazed." He added that partnering with them once more in celebration of their 15th anniversary, through the captivating window displays, limited edition wool garments, and pop-up retail events, helps "showcase wool as a sustainable fibre for the future." This enduring partnership continues to champion wool as a timeless and essential material for a more sustainable world.
