Scalpers Elevates Francisco Gutiérrez to Deputy CEO to Drive Global Expansion
Scalpers, a prominent fashion brand in the affordable premium segment, has announced a significant strengthening of its leadership team with the appointment of Francisco Gutiérrez as its new Deputy CEO. This strategic move, detailed in a recent company statement, underscores Scalpers' commitment to reinforcing its operational and strategic capabilities during a pivotal growth phase.
In his newly created role, Mr. Gutiérrez will assume comprehensive responsibility for the company's operational and strategic management. He will report directly to Borja Vázquez, the brand's Chairman, and Alfonso Vivancos, the CEO. His primary objectives will be to accelerate Scalpers' international expansion and solidify its market position as a leader in the competitive affordable premium sector.
The establishment of the Deputy CEO position reflects the organization's natural evolution and a strategic move towards greater professionalization. This change will enable the Chairman and the existing executive leadership to dedicate their focus to overarching strategic priorities, including significant expansion initiatives and broader corporate development.
Francisco Gutiérrez brings a wealth of experience to this elevated role. He commenced his career in the fashion industry in 2012, initially working with Pull&Bear (Inditex) in London before moving to the brand's headquarters in Ferrol a year later, where he held various positions within the digital division. His journey with Scalpers began in 2019 when he joined to spearhead e-commerce and marketing, taking on the dual responsibility of Chief Digital Officer (CDO) and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Since his arrival at Scalpers, Gutiérrez has been a key architect of the brand's digital transformation and consolidation. Under his dynamic leadership, the online channel experienced extraordinary growth, increasing its turnover tenfold from 4.5 million euros in 2019 to 45 million euros by 2024. This remarkable achievement has firmly established the digital platform as one of the company's most vital strategic growth pillars.
Borja Vázquez, Chairman of Scalpers, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, emphasizing that it reinforces the brand's "commitment to innovation, professionalization, and sustainable growth." He further stated, "His leadership and vision will be key to consolidating the project in the coming years," highlighting the critical role Gutiérrez is expected to play in the brand's future trajectory.
This appointment is intricately linked to the implementation of Scalpers' ambitious 2025-2030 strategic plan, a roadmap that was designed by Gutiérrez himself and recently approved by the board of directors. This comprehensive five-year plan is built upon three core pillars: elevating and repositioning the brand within the "premium bridge" segment, leveraging the growth of the womenswear line as a significant driver of expansion, and intensifying the internationalization of Scalpers, with a strategic focus on Southern Europe and an ambitious entry into the U.S. market before 2030.
Commenting on his new responsibilities, Gutiérrez conveyed his excitement and conviction. "It is an honour to take on this new responsibility and to be able to lead the future of Scalpers in such an exciting phase. I face this challenge with the conviction that we have a brand with enormous international potential, an exceptional team and a clear vision to continue growing in a sustainable and distinctive way," he affirmed, looking forward to steering Scalpers through its next chapter of development and expansion.
