Soft Goat's UK Surge: From Selfridges to Harrods, a Global Luxury Knitwear Story

The United Kingdom continues to be a crucial target market for international brands, even amidst potential economic challenges. This strong appeal is evident in the successful expansion of Swedish knitwear label Soft Goat, which is not only strengthening its presence in its native Scandinavia but also making significant strides in the UK market. The brand's strategic growth reflects its commitment to reaching discerning customers who value contemporary luxury and timeless design.

Soft Goat is notably fortifying its UK presence through a new partnership with Harrods, one of central London's most iconic retail destinations. This collaboration is a natural fit, given Harrods' immense appeal to both affluent UK shoppers and international tourists. The label, renowned for its contemporary luxury cashmere knits, is now showcased on the fourth floor within Harrods' Contemporary & Denim department. This move aligns with Soft Goat’s strategy to partner with highly curated stockists that resonate with its brand vision, offering an elevated shopping experience to customers who appreciate uncompromising quality and sophisticated style, placing its knits within an environment that mirrors its values of curation, exclusivity, and quality.

Prior to the Harrods launch, Soft Goat had already established a strong foothold in the UK. The brand first launched physically in the country last year with a successful 20 sq m pop-up store in Selfridges during Q4. Initially planned for two months, the installation was extended until April 2025 due to overwhelming customer demand, demonstrating a significant rise in interest from British customers. Following the pop-up, Soft Goat has maintained its availability in Selfridges’ Contemporary Studio space. Additionally, the label is now available through Browns, offering an online presence and exclusive access via Browns’ by-appointment luxury private shopping service. This service provides clients with a personalized and intimate environment to experience Soft Goat’s craftsmanship, ensuring a tailored approach for each customer.

Beyond its UK expansion, Soft Goat has also marked a significant milestone with the opening of its first international store outside of its home market in Oslo, Norway. Located at Prinsens gate 27 in the heart of the city, this 60 sq m space represents a pivotal step in the brand’s global strategy. The Oslo store, created in collaboration with Daniel Östman and Hultman Vogt, is more than just a retail outlet; it introduces a new physical retail identity that will be consistently rolled out across all future Soft Goat locations.

The design of the Oslo store masterfully translates Soft Goat’s minimalistic yet vibrant aesthetic into a serene, tactile environment where every detail has been thoughtfully considered. It grounds its design in natural materials such as birch wood, rich textiles, blackened brass, and marble flooring, with bespoke lighting tracing clean lines throughout the space. The intentional juxtaposition of the raw tactility of these materials against the softness of Soft Goat’s plush knits creates a compelling dialogue between structure and comfort, forming a design language that is soft, scalable, and balances both femininity and masculinity. Adding a refined sense of warmth and intimacy, the fitting rooms are strikingly wrapped in a soft pink, enhancing the experience of trying on knitwear and subtly nodding to modern femininity.
