Soho and Carnaby Buzz with New Brands Ahead of Christmas Rush

London's iconic Soho and Carnaby districts continue to solidify their position as premier destinations for both shoppers and tourists, a trend reflected in the sustained strong leasing activity reported by landlord Shaftesbury Capital. Following three significant brand arrivals in September, the vibrant retail landscape is set to further expand with three new stores and an upsized reopening scheduled to launch before the Christmas period, including two exciting UK debuts.

Among the eagerly anticipated arrivals is Spanish footwear retailer Alohas, marking its inaugural UK presence on Beak Street. Embracing an innovative "on-demand model," the concept store allows customers to physically try on footwear, with purchases subsequently shipped directly to their homes. This unique approach is designed to "minimise overproduction and maximise sustainability," aligning with growing consumer demand for eco-conscious retail.

Joining the dynamic mix, fellow Spanish streetwear brand Cold Culture has opened a temporary pop-up on Marshall Street. The store showcases its distinctive range of genderless garments, presented alongside "striking visuals for an immersive shopping experience." This reflects the area's appeal to brands that offer more than just products, focusing on engagement and brand narrative.

Natural fibre fashion brand Sheep Inc is also gearing up for its opening on 23 October, introducing its innovative retail concept on Newburgh Street. The brand pledges to "redefine the future of conscious luxury retail" by featuring its signature blend of "ultra-soft New Zealand wool and the finest natural fibres," promising a blend of quality, comfort, and ethical production.

Completing the pre-Christmas influx, international make-up, fragrance, and skincare powerhouse Charlotte Tilbury is set to unveil its new store later this month. Positioned in a prominent anchor gateway unit on Carnaby Street, the expansive 4,200 sq ft concept store will offer the brand’s full range of skincare, make-up, and fragrance products. Customers can look forward to "a personalised experience and tailored expert advice from Charlotte Tilbury’s pro-make-up artists," emphasizing service and luxury.

William Oliver, Director of Retail & Restaurant Leasing at Shaftesbury Capital, commented on the strong appeal of the areas: “We continue to generate strong demand from experience-led brands looking to be part of Carnaby Street and Soho, with each of these additions bringing a unique concept that aligns with the area’s distinctive character.” He added that having these new establishments operational before the festive season ensures "an exciting end to the year for our customers," as Shaftesbury Capital continues to attract "an outstanding calibre of brands that recognise Carnaby Street and Soho’s exceptional reputation, and that have a desire to be part of this ever-evolving destination.”
