Source Fashion partners with Redress to spotlight the future of sustainable design
Source Fashion is set to make its highly anticipated return to Olympia London from January 13-15, and this edition marks a significant collaboration as it welcomes Hong Kong-based Redress as its headline catwalk partner. The Asia-focused environmental NGO, renowned for championing pioneering designers who are redefining fashion through circular and sustainable design, will play a pivotal role in showcasing the future of responsible fashion. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to fostering innovation and driving meaningful change within the global fashion industry.
Throughout the three-day event, Redress will host dynamic catwalk shows three times daily. These presentations are designed to offer a compelling visual narrative, illustrating how responsible design principles and creative excellence can seamlessly converge to reshape fashion's trajectory. The showcases will feature two to three distinguished alumni from the acclaimed 'Redress Design Award,' an international sustainable fashion design competition. While the specific designers are yet to be announced, their curated collections will prominently highlight innovation, circular design thinking, and an unwavering commitment to minimizing environmental impact.
At the heart of Redress's mission is the 'Redress Design Award,' which has successfully cultivated a global network of over 300 emerging designers dedicated to pioneering circular and waste-reducing practices. The event management team expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that Redress is an ideal collaborator for Source Fashion due to their mutual commitment to innovation, education, and instigating real-world change. Together, they aim to empower the next generation of designers, enabling them to sculpt fashion's future through a blend of creativity and responsibility.
Suzanne Ellingham, Event Director, shared her excitement about this collaboration, describing it as an "exciting next chapter" for the Source Fashion catwalk. She highlighted Redress's instrumental role in nurturing some of today's most forward-thinking designers in sustainability. Ellingham emphasized that the alumni's work serves as compelling proof that creativity and responsibility are not opposing forces but, in fact, form the very foundation of fashion's future. By bringing their innovative designs to the Source Fashion stage, the partnership offers buyers and brands an invaluable opportunity to witness practical examples of truly circular design in action.
Echoing this sentiment, Christina Dean, founder of Redress, stated that the partnership with Source Fashion provides the perfect platform to demonstrate that sustainable fashion is far more than a passing trend – it is the undeniable future. By spotlighting their Redress Design Award alumni, Dean aims to emphatically prove that circular design can be simultaneously innovative, aesthetically beautiful, and commercially viable. Ultimately, this collaboration is geared towards inspiring the entire industry and showcasing that responsibility and creativity are inextricably linked, forming the cornerstone of a better fashion ecosystem.
