Source Fashion Unveils

Source Fashion is set to make its highly anticipated return to Olympia London from January 13-15, where it will unveil an exciting new feature: Fashion Deconstructed. This innovative addition is conceived as an "immersive, hands-on" experience, designed to provide buyers and visitors with an unprecedented look behind the scenes of modern fashion production and the intricate processes involved in garment creation.

The special feature aims to bring the making of fashion to life, offering practical insights and interactive experiences with some of the industry's foremost experts. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to explore the craft, quality, and construction that define exceptional fashion, whether through learning how to create a high-end garment in just an hour or understanding the crucial properties of premium fabrics. From engaging upcycling and denim workshops to a live factory production line and expert repair sessions, the program covers the full spectrum of fashion artistry.

A diverse range of workshops will be led by respected names within the industry. Stuart Trevor, the renowned fashion designer and founder of All Saints, will host practical upcycling sessions, sharing his expertise in transforming existing materials. Meanwhile, Ross Barry, founder of Reskinned, will conduct insightful denim deconstruction workshops, revealing the intricate fibres and fabric properties that contribute to this versatile material. A significant highlight will be a mini production line, introduced through a strategic partnership with Apparel Tasker, an East London-based garment development and sustainable production unit, showcasing skilled machinists creating garments in real-time.

Beyond these, additional hands-on workshops will empower participants to quickly produce multiple T-shirts within an hour, alongside opportunities to delve into high-end construction techniques with small, expert-led teams. Complementing these sessions, dedicated leather repair workshops and various practical demonstrations will be running continuously throughout the three-day event, ensuring a rich and comprehensive learning environment for all attendees.

Suzanne Ellingham, director of Source Fashion, articulated the vision behind the initiative, stating: “Fashion Deconstructed is about showing what good looks like in the most practical way. It’s also about showing how human fashion still is.” She emphasized the goal of allowing visitors to witness and comprehend the immense skill, care, and craft invested in every garment, encouraging them to experiment with techniques and forge connections with the dedicated individuals who form the backbone of the industry. The feature promises to be not only educational but also an inherently hands-on, interactive, and fun experience for everyone involved.
