StockX Taps Brand Protection Veteran Pilar Toro to Bolster Authenticity and Trust
StockX, the leading U.S. resale platform, has announced a significant strategic appointment with Pilar Toro joining the company as Director of Brand Integrity. This move underscores StockX's intensified commitment to fortifying its verification systems and ensuring the authenticity and trust that underpin its marketplace. The appointment is a clear signal of the company's proactive approach to safeguarding its ecosystem for both customers and brand partners.
In her new and pivotal role, Pilar Toro will report directly to Paul Guerra, StockX’s Chief Security Officer. Her responsibilities will encompass strengthening collaborations with brands, spearheading advancements in product verification methodologies, and championing anti-counterfeiting initiatives. According to a press release, Toro is expected to play an instrumental role in shaping the Detroit-based firm's global brand integrity strategy, driving external partnerships, and introducing innovative approaches that will complement StockX’s extensive brand protection and customer trust programs.
Toro brings an impressive background, boasting two decades of leadership experience in developing and implementing robust brand protection programs across a diverse array of industries, including fashion, footwear, technology, and luxury goods. Her distinguished career includes senior positions at globally recognized brands such as Chanel, Lululemon, Sony, Burberry, Tiffany & Co., and Red Wing Shoe Company. Most recently, she lent her expertise to the A-CAPP Center at Michigan State University, where she led outreach initiatives, deepening her understanding of evolving brand protection risks, consumer behaviors, and the strategic countermeasures required to combat them effectively.
Greg Schwartz, CEO of StockX, expressed enthusiasm for Toro's arrival, stating, “Pilar brings deep industry expertise and fresh perspectives that will help StockX continue to enhance efforts to combat counterfeiting, safeguard customers, and work collaboratively with brands to fight bad actors.” He further emphasized StockX's foundational principles, adding, “As a marketplace founded on the principles of trust and transparency, we’re proud of the role StockX has played in setting standards across the resale industry. Pilar’s work will only further reinforce our position as a leader in brand protection and a company committed to doing everything it can to ensure safety and confidence for its community.”
Pilar Toro herself conveyed her excitement about joining StockX, noting, “I’m thrilled to be joining a company that through innovation is leading the way for an expanded view of brand protection in its category.” She commended the company's dedication, stating, “I greatly admire StockX’s unwavering commitment to customer trust, and I’m looking forward to helping the team further expand on its work in product verification, anti-counterfeiting, and customer protection.” Her appointment aligns perfectly with StockX’s broader strategy to enhance its verification systems through advanced technology and to strengthen its connections with law enforcement agencies.
This key executive hire follows another significant appointment earlier this year, when StockX announced Daniel De Jesus Krueger as Vice President and Head of Creative. These strategic personnel decisions reflect StockX's ongoing investment in top-tier talent and its commitment to reinforcing its leadership position within the competitive resale market, particularly in areas critical to customer confidence and brand integrity.
