Stéphane Rolland to headline Barcelona Bridal Night with a spectacular 80-creation showcase
French haute couture is set to make a grand statement in Barcelona next spring, as the renowned designer Stéphane Rolland prepares to headline the Barcelona Bridal Night. This prestigious event, a highlight of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW), will welcome Rolland, adding his name to an illustrious list of designers who have previously graced the occasion, including Elie Saab, Viktor & Rolf, Giambattista Valli, and Vivienne Westwood. Rolland's show on April 22, 2026, at Hall 8 of the Montjuïc venue, will mark his first presentation in Spain, featuring an impressive collection of 80 creations, 20 of which will be brand-new looks meticulously designed for this special occasion.
Stéphane Rolland himself expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, highlighting the synergy between his artistic vision and Barcelona's cultural landscape. He remarked, "Barcelona is a city that shares haute couture’s appreciation for form, volume, and artistic expression." Rolland further elaborated on his unique design philosophy, stating, "My dresses are emotional architectures, and this will be a unique occasion to celebrate this with an international audience in a deeply cultural setting," underscoring the deep connection he perceives between his sculptural designs and the city's aesthetic.
A distinguished member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, Stéphane Rolland established his eponymous maison in 2007. His illustrious career began with formative experiences at iconic houses such as Balenciaga and Jean-Louis Scherrer, where he notably became the youngest artistic director on the French haute couture scene. Rolland's distinctive style is a masterful fusion of the rich tradition of French couture with a bold, sculptural vision, characterized by a sophisticated blend of technical precision, theatrical flair, and artistic sensibility. His breathtaking designs have captivated global audiences and have been famously worn by a constellation of stars, including Lady Gaga, Céline Dion, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Nieves Álvarez.
Albasarí Caro, the director of Barcelona Bridal Night, emphasized the monumental significance of Rolland's participation. "Having Stéphane Rolland for the tenth anniversary of Bridal Night marks a milestone that reflects our commitment to excellence," Caro stated. She added that "His presence further elevates the artistic calibre of the event and confirms Barcelona as a global epicentre of design and haute couture," reinforcing the city's growing reputation on the international fashion stage.
In line with its dedication to nurturing emerging talent, the fashion show will also integrate the work of 24 students from leading Barcelona design schools: IED (Istituto Europeo di Design), ESDI (Escola Superior de Disseny), and LCI Barcelona. These aspiring designers will have the unparalleled opportunity to open the show, presenting original pieces created in a unique collaboration with the French maison. Over a six-month period, the students will work with exquisite fabrics generously loaned by Gratacós to bring their designs to fruition, ultimately sharing the catwalk with Rolland's magnificent creations. Caro reiterated BBFW's commitment, stating, "at BBFW we are committed to giving visibility and opportunities to new talent in the city," and passionately stressed that "supporting young designers means guaranteeing the constant renewal and excellence of the sector."
Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, meticulously organized by Fira de Barcelona with crucial support from the Departament d'Empresa i Treball de la Generalitat de Catalunya, is scheduled to run from April 22 to 26, 2026, also at the Montjuïc venue. The upcoming edition promises to be an extraordinary showcase, featuring more than 400 exhibiting brands and nearly 40 designers presenting their collections on the catwalk. This extensive lineup further solidifies BBFW's esteemed position as an international benchmark for bridal, ceremony, and red-carpet fashion, drawing professionals and enthusiasts from across the globe.
