Supergoop! Taps Amazon Beauty Vet Melis del Rey as New CEO
Supergoop!, the prominent U.S. sunscreen brand, has announced the appointment of Melis del Rey as its new chief executive officer, effective December 8. Del Rey steps into the leadership role, succeeding Gregory Polcer, who has been serving as Interim CEO since May 2025. Polcer will collaborate closely with del Rey to facilitate a seamless transition and will continue his valuable contributions as a member of the New York-based brand's board of directors.
Bringing more than two decades of extensive experience within the global beauty and consumer products industry, Melis del Rey joins Supergoop! from Amazon. At Amazon, she held the significant position of general manager for Amazon U.S. Health and Beauty, overseeing critical operations and strategy for a vast portfolio. Her career at Amazon spanned 11 years, during which she honed her expertise in e-commerce and large-scale consumer operations.
Prior to her tenure at Amazon, del Rey spent over a decade at Procter & Gamble, where she excelled in various marketing and sales leadership roles across the company's global beauty divisions. Her professional journey began in academia, initially as an engineer and researcher. She holds a Ph.D. in New Product Development & Engineering Design and a B.Eng. in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management, both earned from The University of Nottingham. Additionally, del Rey actively contributes to the industry as a board member for Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering women's leadership within the beauty sector.
Edgar Huber, Chairman of the Board at Supergoop!, expressed great enthusiasm for del Rey's appointment. He stated, "Melis is a dynamic and visionary leader with a proven track record of building global brands, strengthening retail partnerships, and delivering exceptional consumer experiences." Huber further emphasized, "Her innovative approach to brand building and deep expertise across beauty, e-commerce, and omnichannel strategy make her uniquely suited to lead Supergoop! into its next era of growth."
Huber also extended his gratitude to Gregory Polcer for his exemplary leadership during the transition period and for his ongoing commitment as a valued board member. Del Rey's arrival comes at an exciting time for Supergoop!, which recently marked a significant expansion earlier this year by partnering with multi-brand beauty retailer Nykaa to successfully enter the burgeoning Indian market.
