The O2 Outlet gains momentum with new store openings and strong sales growth.
Outlet Shopping at The O2, a prominent retail destination located in southeast London’s Greenwich Peninsular and closely linked to the iconic O2 entertainment arena, has announced a significant expansion. The center has recently opened two new stores—fashion retailer TM Lewin and jewellery brand Lovisa—while simultaneously revealing an upsizing initiative for sportswear giant New Balance. This series of developments underscores a period of "growing momentum" for the outlet destination, which is reportedly "on track for a stellar end to 2025."
The positive sentiment surrounding the center is supported by robust performance metrics. The O2 reported a substantial 23% uplift in sales throughout November 2024 compared to the previous year. This growth was paralleled by a 24% increase in footfall across the entire scheme during the same period, indicating strong consumer interest and successful retail strategies.
British heritage brand TM Lewin has established its first and only outlet location at The O2. The new 1,827 sq ft store marks the retailer's return to physical retail, offering its signature range of shirts, suits, and accessories. Dan Ferris, managing director at TM Lewin, commented on the strategic move: "Our re-entry into physical retail has been a big move for us this year, and we have carefully selected locations where we believe our stores can get the best experience, regular customers, and be part of a community."
Adding to the retail mix, Lovisa makes its outlet debut with a 1,722 sq ft unit situated adjacent to other fashion-forward retailers Dune London and Kurt Geiger. This opening significantly enhances The O2's accessories offering, making it the destination’s second dedicated jewellery retailer. The arrival of Lovisa supports a sector experiencing rapid growth, with demand for accessories increasing by 38% in November 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. The new store provides a full range of necklaces, earrings, and rings, alongside professional piercing facilities.
In a further sign of tenant confidence in the location, long-standing tenant New Balance has reinvested in the outlet by upsizing its unit. The sportswear brand will relocate to a new 3,129 sq ft space, allowing for the introduction of a new store concept and providing additional room to showcase wider stock collections to customers.
Louisa Dalgleish, leasing director at Outlet Shopping at The O2, emphasized the significance of these developments. She stated: "As a destination already full of leading retail, the fact that we continue to attract such strong brands for their outlet debuts speaks volumes about our sustained momentum. Our success is a direct result of our collaborative landlord approach and the strength of our tenant mix, and our positive results throughout November are a clear indication that things show no sign of slowing down, with us remaining firmly front of mind for new entries into the outlet market."
