Toms Taps Footwear Vet Katie Wagner as Chief Commercial Officer to Drive Growth
Toms, the well-known U.S. footwear brand, officially announced on Tuesday the appointment of Katie Wagner to the pivotal role of Chief Commercial Officer. This strategic move signals a concerted effort by the company to bolster its leadership team and drive future growth.
In her comprehensive new position, Wagner will assume oversight of all of Toms' global sales channels. Her responsibilities will encompass the brand's wholesale sales and operations, its rapidly expanding e-commerce presence, and its various marketplace initiatives, aiming for a unified and impactful commercial strategy worldwide.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the new challenge, Wagner stated, “I’m thrilled to be part of the team shaping the next chapter of this iconic brand. I’ve been a fan of Toms shoes for so many years and I’m delighted to be working to reignite its brand relevance, apply a unified marketplace approach, and usher in a more modern distribution strategy just in time for the company’s 20th anniversary.” Her vision clearly outlines a strategic path for revitalization and innovation as the brand approaches a significant milestone.
Wagner joins Toms with a wealth of experience, having recently concluded an advisory period where she guided the Los Angeles-based brand’s wholesale strategy. As a distinguished footwear veteran, she brings nearly two decades of proven commercial leadership, notably from her impactful tenures at Crocs and its sister brand, HeyDude. During her time there, she was instrumental in managing multi-hundred-million dollar portfolios, successfully scaling major regional businesses, and effectively doubling revenue in key markets, showcasing her profound capability in driving significant commercial expansion.
Her appointment comes at a critical juncture for Toms, aligning with Chief Executive Officer Jessica Alsing's broader strategic initiative to reshape the company's leadership. According to a recent press release, Alsing's objective is to strategically position the firm for accelerated growth as it heads into 2026, making Wagner's expertise particularly valuable.
Jessica Alsing, who took the top leadership spot on October 8, shared her high regard for Wagner. “I had the great fortune of working with Katie at both Crocs and Melissa, so I know first-hand her unmatched ability to transform and build world-class footwear businesses,” Alsing remarked, underscoring their past successful collaborations and her confidence in Wagner's capabilities.
Alsing further elaborated on Wagner’s unique strengths, adding, “Katie is unrivaled in building commercial relationships, laying a strong strategic foundation for sales, and bringing a creative approach to how she thinks about the omni-channel consumer experience. I'm delighted to be working with her again.” This strong endorsement highlights Wagner’s multifaceted skills crucial for navigating the evolving retail landscape and driving Toms’ ambitious growth objectives.
