Topshop Surprises Fans with Early John Lewis Pop-Up Return

Topshop is making an earlier-than-anticipated return to the high street, launching a series of pop-up experiences within John Lewis stores nationwide from November 3rd. While the partnership between ASOS (which manages and part-owns Topshop) and John Lewis initially flagged a February 2024 debut for the full launch, the accelerated timeline is a direct response to what ASOS describes as "demand from eager fans" ahead of the brand's extensive reintroduction across 32 John Lewis locations next year.

These initial pop-ups will not encompass all 32 planned branches, but rather will strategically appear in four key John Lewis stores. Shoppers can visit dedicated Topshop spaces on the womenswear floor of the London Oxford Street flagship, as well as the Bristol, Leeds, and Liverpool stores. Each pop-up will offer a curated selection of approximately 30 "fashion-forward pieces," with the collection refreshed weekly. Customers can expect a range of statement outerwear, iconic denim, cult knits, and must-have partywear, all of which will also be accessible for purchase via the John Lewis app.

To celebrate this exciting residency, Topshop has planned engaging incentives for customers. The first 100 shoppers at each pop-up location will receive a complimentary Topshop tote bag, with additional giveaways scheduled throughout the six-week takeover period. Embracing Topshop’s iconic Oxford Circus flagship history, the John Lewis Oxford Street pop-up will host weekly DJ Sessions every Thursday evening, commencing November 13th, featuring guest DJs to bring live music and energy to in-store shoppers.

ASOS is clearly committed to a high-profile revival for Topshop, having already orchestrated a runway takeover of Trafalgar Square and established a presence in the upscale department store Liberty. This proactive strategy appears to be yielding positive results. Michelle Wilson, MD of Topshop, commented on the brand’s resurgence, stating, "We’ve seen an incredible response to Topshop’s return, and we know our customers are excited to shop the brand in person again. By taking our Winter and Party collections beyond London, the Topshop pop-ups bring our signature energy and style to locations across the UK, just in time for the festive season."

The pop-ups, running through to Christmas, offer a seasonal glimpse into Topshop's latest collection, featuring "elevated essentials," "directional denim," and "statement pieces that channel the brand’s unmistakable attitude." Rachel Morgans, Director of Fashion at John Lewis, further highlighted the partnership's synergy, adding, "We’ve been listening to how excited [customers] are for Topshop's return, so as their sole nationwide partner, this felt like the perfect moment for a 'teaser' pop-up. It's an exciting glimpse of what's to come next year." As previously confirmed, the full Topshop launch will unfold in February across 32 John Lewis stores, with Topman collections also available in six of these locations.
