Tory Burch Appoints Luxury Vet Joëlle Grunberg as North America President

Tory Burch has announced a significant leadership change, appointing Joëlle Grunberg as the new President of North America, effective November 10. This strategic move sees Grunberg taking the helm of the brand's extensive operations across the region, a pivotal market for the American luxury fashion company. She succeeds Christophe de Pous, who is departing from Tory Burch to explore new professional avenues.

In her new and crucial role, Ms. Grunberg will oversee all facets of Tory Burch's North American business, encompassing its retail stores, burgeoning e-commerce platforms, and wholesale partnerships. Based out of New York, she will directly report to the brand’s Chief Executive Officer, Pierre-Yves Roussel. Her appointment underscores Tory Burch's commitment to strengthening its presence and performance in its largest market.

Joëlle Grunberg brings a wealth of experience to Tory Burch, boasting an impressive career as a seasoned veteran in the fashion and luxury sectors. Her professional journey includes multiple C-suite executive positions across both Europe and the United States. Prior to joining Tory Burch, Grunberg served as a partner at McKinsey & Company, where she specialized in the retail – fashion and luxury practice for North America. Her extensive background also includes leadership roles at renowned companies such as Wolverine Worldwide, Lacoste, and the iconic French department store group, Galeries Lafayette, equipping her with a comprehensive understanding of the global fashion landscape.

Pierre-Yves Roussel, CEO of Tory Burch, expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointment, stating, “Joëlle is an accomplished executive with a vast range of experience in our industry. She brings with her a growth mindset in alignment with our approach, as well as a strong track record of success driving customer engagement and omni-channel results.” Roussel further emphasized his anticipation for their collaboration, aiming to “further capitalize on our strength and potential in North America,” highlighting Grunberg’s strategic importance in the brand’s future growth.

North America holds immense significance for Tory Burch, representing its largest market since the brand's inception with its first store opening in New York City in 2004. Today, the brand's physical retail footprint spans 125 stores across the United States and Canada, comprising nearly one-third of its global network. Beyond its robust digital presence, Tory Burch products are also widely available through prestigious department stores, including Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's, and Neiman Marcus, cementing its multi-channel approach to reaching customers in the region.
