Valentino's DeVain Clutch Becomes Digital Muse for Nine International Artists

Valentino has launched an innovative digital art project centered around its new DeVain clutch handbag, designed by creative director Alessandro Michele. This experimental visual story features nine international artists who have crafted their own unique digital renditions of the DeVain, which was first introduced with the pre-Fall 2025 collection. The initiative positions the key handbag as the focal point of a groundbreaking visual narrative, exclusively developed by these artists.

At the heart of this project, the DeVain transforms into the central character across nine distinct visual stories, serving as a powerful catalyst for reflection on contemporary creativity. Reimagined through the digital medium, the handbag becomes a form of artistic expression. The resulting artworks, contributed by talents from various disciplines each bringing their individual insight, collectively form a multifaceted and contemporary visual spectacle.

The initial chapter of this compelling project showcases the creative output of five artists: Thomas Albdorf, Enter the Void, Paul Octavious, Albert Planella, and Tina Tona. Their work sets the stage for the unveiling of creations by four additional artists, slated for early December. Each participant has interpreted the DeVain as a potent symbol of creative freedom and individuality, masterfully blending experimentation and imagination into their unique visual narratives.

Among the first group of artists, Thomas Albdorf has produced a series of studio-based video clips where the DeVain is reflected on mirrored surfaces. Through an intricate interplay of symmetry and texture, Albdorf develops sculptural compositions, causing the handbag to multiply and transform dynamically. Enter the Void employs AI to construct a dreamlike, surreal world – an underwater desert hotel inhabited by a fascinating mix of fish and handbags, where traditional perceptions of space and time elegantly dissolve. Paul Octavious offers a modern take on classic portraiture, seamlessly integrating the DeVain into animated, AI-based digital compositions that draw inspiration from 16th-century art.

Tina Tona contributes dynamic and vibrant compositions through a combination of multimedia collage and digital animation, presenting the DeVain from multiple perspectives in a captivating blend of chaos and precision, color and rhythm. Albert Planella, meanwhile, harnesses the power of AI and cinematography to weave a compelling tale that hovers gracefully between states of awareness and dreaming, adding a profound, contemplative layer to the project.

Beyond its digital interpretations, the physical DeVain clutch itself is a masterpiece of design and versatility, becoming available to customers from mid-November. It comes in an impressive array of 27 variants, catering to diverse tastes and styles. These options range from elegant monochrome versions in Nappa or metallic Nappa leather, to more playful and tactile editions like denim, crochet raffia, and luxurious shearling embellished with colorful crystals. Further distinctive versions incorporate precious skins, intricate thread and bead embroideries, and captivating combinations of floral garlands and soft velvet.

Adding a bespoke touch, each DeVain clutch features a subtle leather tag that can be personalized with the client’s initials. This unique personalization service elevates the clutch, transforming it into a truly individual expression of style. It is exclusively available at select Valentino boutiques worldwide and can also be accessed conveniently through Valentino.com.
