Vestiaire Collective Shakes Up Leadership Amidst Market Shifts

Vestiaire Collective, a leading platform in the luxury resale market, is undergoing significant leadership changes following the recent departure of CEO Maximilian Bittner and now, co-founder and President Fanny Moizant. Moizant announced her exit via social media, stating the decision was not her own but accepted as the conclusion of a remarkable period with the company.

Fanny Moizant, a graduate of both the Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) and NEOMA Business School, launched Vestiaire Collective in 2009 alongside Sébastien Fabre, Sophie Hersan, Alexandre Cognard, Henrique Fernandes, and Christian Jorge. The platform initially operated under the name “Vestiaire de Copines” before rebranding to Vestiaire Collective in 2012 to facilitate its expansion into international markets, beginning with the UK, Germany, Italy, and the United States.

Moizant previously highlighted the strength of the company’s foundational concept, telling FashionNetwork.com in 2014 that they had a “fully formed concept from the outset.” This early clarity contributed to Vestiaire Collective’s growth within the burgeoning resale sector.

While Vestiaire Collective maintains the confidentiality of its financial data, revenue for the 2024 financial year is estimated to be approximately €414 million. The company operates in a competitive landscape, facing challenges from established players like Vinted, a popular platform originating in Lithuania.

The appointment of Bernard Osta as CEO, coupled with a broader slowdown in the apparel market – particularly within the luxury segment – prompts questions regarding the future growth strategy of Vestiaire Collective. Currently, Sophie Hersan is the only remaining co-founder still actively involved with the company, serving as its fashion director.
