VF Corp Surges on Strong Q2 Results and Debt Reduction Driven by North Face and Timberland Growth

VF Corporation reported robust financial performance for the second quarter of the 2026 financial year, with revenue reaching $2.8 billion. This figure represents a 2% increase year-on-year for the owner of well-known brands such as Vans, Timberland, The North Face, and Dickies. The company also announced on October 28 that it had significantly reduced its net debt by 21% compared to the same period last year, signaling a strengthened financial position. This positive news was reflected in premarket trading, where VF Corp’s shares were up approximately 4%, as reported by Reuters.

Brand-level performance saw varied but largely positive results, with the overall outcome exceeding prior guidance. While Vans experienced a 9% loss in the second quarter, this marked an improvement from an 11% decline a year prior, indicating a moderation in its challenges. In contrast, Timberland and The North Face delivered strong growth, reporting 7% and 6% increases respectively. According to VF Corp, these better-than-expected results were driven by stronger back-to-school sales and early wholesale demand, underscoring effective market engagement.

Bracken Darrell, president and CEO of VF Corp, highlighted the company's progress on its turnaround plan. In a release on the company's website, he stated, "In Q2 we made further progress on our turnaround plan. We delivered broad-based growth for The North Face® and Timberland®, while continuing to moderate declines in Vans®." Darrell also announced a significant strategic move: "We also announced the pending sale of Dickies® for $600 million, enhancing our capacity to invest in the portfolio and drive shareholder returns." Looking ahead, the company remains focused on generating value across its portfolio and returning to sustainable and profitable growth.

Financially, VF Corp’s adjusted operating income for the second quarter totaled $330 million, with operating income at $313 million. The business achieved an operating margin of 11.2%, marking a substantial improvement of +130 basis points compared to the second quarter of the 2025 fiscal year, alongside a solid gross margin of 52.2%. The outlook for the third quarter of the 2026 financial year is also optimistic, with VF Corp expecting adjusted operating income to exceed $275 million. The company further anticipates both its adjusted operating income and operating cash flow to increase year-on-year for the entirety of the 2026 fiscal year.

In addition to releasing its results for the quarter ending September 27, VF Corp’s Board of Directors authorized a quarterly per-share dividend of $0.09. This dividend is payable on December 18, 2025, to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 10, 2025. Based in Denver, Colorado, VF Corp’s strong performance comes against a challenging economic backdrop, including increasing US retail pressure fueled by US-imposed global tariffs, demonstrating the company's resilience and strategic execution in a demanding market environment.
