Wacoal accelerates North India expansion with new store at DLF Mall of India.
Japanese lingerie brand Wacoal has significantly expanded its retail footprint in the Delhi NCR region with the opening of a new 300-square-foot store in DLF Mall of India in Noida. This strategic launch is part of Wacoal’s broader nationwide growth ambitions, aimed at strengthening its presence and capturing a larger share of the Indian market.
Wacoal India's COO, Pooja Merani, emphasized the brand's commitment to quality and consumer experience. "At Wacoal, we are dedicated to offering women exceptional fit, quality, and an elevated shopping experience," she stated in a press release. The new store is designed to facilitate this experience, featuring a cream and gold interior aesthetic and private fitting rooms, specifically promoting well-fitting intimate wear for women. Merani added that the opening not only strengthens their presence in Delhi-NCR but also marks their initial foray into the city’s mall retail space, bringing Wacoal’s distinct experience closer to its consumers.
Following this launch, Wacoal now operates 18 exclusive brand outlets across India. The brand plans further expansion in the near future, specifically targeting North India. In addition to physical store growth, Wacoal aims to broaden its omni-channel footprint, supported by its digital presence and partnerships with multi-brand outlets.
Wacoal India’s CEO, Hirokuni Nagamori, highlighted the market potential driving the expansion. "Our rapid growth in Delhi-NCR is driven by a strong and rising demand for premium, expertly crafted lingerie," Nagamori explained. He described the new store at DLF Mall of India as a "significant milestone" that reinforces Wacoal’s commitment to the North India market. With several more stores reportedly in the pipeline for Delhi, Nagamori indicated that the company is "accelerating our momentum and laying a solid foundation for Wacoal India’s long-term growth."
Founded in Japan in 1946, Wacoal has a history of international expansion. The brand began expanding into other Asian countries in the 1970s, followed by the US in 1985 and Europe in 1990. Wacoal opened its first store in India in December 2015, where it retails a comprehensive range of products including bras, panties, shapewear, and sleepwear.
