Gary Busey Receives Two Year Probation For Horror Convention Misconduct

Actor Gary Busey received a two-year probationary period following his July guilty plea for the improper touching of a woman at a horror convention held in 2022.
Court documents indicate that Busey, now 81 years old, was handed this sentence for the sexual offense on Thursday, September 18.
On Saturday, September 20, his attorney, Blair Zwillman, stated, “Mr. Busey is relieved that this matter has concluded, allowing him to move forward in his life free from ongoing, everyday public scrutiny.”
This judgment concludes a three-year legal process stemming from accusations by multiple women of the actor's alleged misconduct and harassment at the Monster-Mania Con event in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, during August 2022.
Scandals of Sexual Misconduct in Hollywood
Allegations surfaced that the actor had inappropriately touched two attendees, reportedly grabbing their buttocks and trying to unfasten one woman’s bra, leading to charges of two counts of criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact, and one count of harassment.
Busey, speaking to TMZ at that time, refuted the claims, asserting that “nothing transpired” and expressing “no regrets” regarding his behavior at the event. Nevertheless, Cherry Hill Township Police Lieutenant Robert Scheunemann informed the Philadelphia Inquirer in August 2022 that law enforcement had received “numerous complaints” concerning Busey’s actions during the convention.
This past July, the actor, who resides in California, admitted guilt to a charge which Zwillman clarified involved “touching a female’s buttocks through her clothing.” While he could have received up to five years of probation and a $500 penalty, Zwillman noted that the reduced sentence allows him to petition for early release after twelve months.
According to ABC6, a condition of the sentence stipulates that the judge prohibited Busey from any communication or interaction with the victim.
