Halsey Shares Health Update Amidst Ongoing Lupus and T-Cell Disorder Battle
Halsey has provided an update regarding their ongoing health struggles with lupus and T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.
“I wanted to quickly bring you up to speed. I recently underwent additional chemotherapy treatments,” the 30-year-old artist, Halsey, revealed in a TikTok video posted on Thursday, September 25. “A new medical port was also inserted. We’ve just finished preparing the Back to Badlands concert, and it’s shaping up to be truly incredible and spectacular. My birthday is approaching in a few days, but I’ve been so preoccupied that it hasn't even crossed my mind.”
Amidst their demanding music schedule, Halsey — who uses she/they pronouns — has been contending with various health challenges.
“My initial diagnosis in 2022 was Lupus SLE, followed by a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder,” Halsey shared in an Instagram post from June 2024. “Both conditions are either under control or in a state of remission; however, they are likely to remain with me for the rest of my life.”

The artist elaborated, “Following a challenging beginning, I gradually gained control over my health with the support of excellent medical professionals. Two years on, I'm feeling improved and I'm immensely thankful to have music as a source of comfort and strength.”
The subsequent year, Halsey provided their supporters with an additional health update.
“Hello. I simply want to express; I appeared and felt this way two years prior, and every improvement I've made since then is truly remarkable,” they posted on Instagram in January. “I am managing this at my own pace, and I appreciate everyone who has supported me on this journey. Plus, I'm incredibly attractive now, which is a wonderful bonus.”
Beyond their diagnoses of lupus and lymphoproliferative disorder, Halsey has also confronted endometriosis.

“Before I could fully comprehend its implications for me and for my prospects, my profession, my existence, my romantic life … I found myself experiencing a miscarriage on stage during a concert,” Halsey recounted on The Doctors in 2018. “Reproductive health issues are incredibly disheartening because they can make you feel diminished as a woman. There are many instances where you're at home, feeling utterly distraught about yourself. You're unwell, you don't feel appealing, you don't feel accomplished, and you sense a lack of optimism.”
Halsey’s endometriosis diagnosis came following multiple challenges with fertility and several miscarriages. Subsequently, Halsey welcomed their son, Ender, in July 2021, with former partner Alev Aydin. Following the conclusion of their relationship, Halsey began dating actor Avan Jogia. The couple announced their engagement in 2024, after being together for a year.
“He asked me to marry him in Barcelona, which is a place where we initially spent time together, making it particularly meaningful for us,” Halsey revealed on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast several months later in October 2024. “Right after that, he departed to film a series in Canada for approximately half a year, and I thought, ‘Alright, farewell.’ I had never envisioned myself getting married, but with Avan … I simply realized I wanted him to be my husband.”
