Josh Bowling Debunks Fake TikTok Account Spreading Misinformation About Conjoined Twins Abby and Brittany Hensel

Josh Bowling, husband to Abby Hensel, has stepped forward to clarify misconceptions regarding a TikTok profile sharing images and alleged news about his family.

Speaking to People on Saturday, September 6, Bowling asserted that the social media account purporting to belong to his wife is fraudulent. His statement follows recent sightings of Abby and her conjoined twin sister, Brittany, both 35, observed with a newborn baby during errands last month. (The twins were also seen with an infant in a car seat a few weeks after that.)

Despite the TikTok account in question having posted paparazzi shots of Abby and Brittany with a baby on August 30, accompanied by the caption “Blessed,” Bowling stated that it "does not belong to my wife." (Us Weekly previously cited this social media post but has since updated our earlier report.)

He acknowledged "the considerable curiosity" surrounding the possibility of his family having expanded, but chose not to elaborate further on the topic.

“We don’t know precisely who manages it,” Bowling commented regarding the imposter account. “However, I suspect [it’s operated by] someone who acquired numerous pictures from my mother’s [Facebook] profile.”

He further revealed that neither Abby nor Brittany have ever maintained a TikTok account, and that their personal Facebook profiles were made private quite some time ago. This, he clarified, is why the TikTok impersonation account exclusively features images already accessible to the public.

“They […] began utilizing photographs already in circulation for the media and general public. I can absolutely confirm it’s not us,” Bowling affirmed, adding that the account has been “attracting considerable media interest that we prefer to avoid.”

He elaborated, “Initially, we simply thought it was someone attempting to gain swift profit or similar, so we felt no need to comment. Once [the] media started to genuinely think it was us, I realized I needed to speak up.”

Abby and Brittany gained public recognition following their appearances in three documentaries: Joined for Life (2002), Joined at Birth (2003), and Joined for Life: Abby & Brittany Turn 16 (2006). They are dicephalous conjoined twins, a seldom-seen variation of partial twinning characterized by two heads situated adjacent to each other on a single torso. The siblings share a common bloodstream and all anatomical structures beneath the waist. Abby is responsible for the movements of their right arm and leg, conversely, Brittany manages the left portion of their physique.

Last year, it became public knowledge that Abby exchanged vows with Bowling in a private event held in November 2021. Bowling served as a veteran in the United States Army.
